What are the recert requirements/How many pda/ceus do I need?

PDA or continuing education courses must be completed exactly within the four (4) year recertification cycle. Coursework or professional activities may not be rolled over to the next recertification cycle. Submitting the ‘same course’ twice in one four-year recertification cycle is not allowed. ‘Same course’ is defined as having an identical course title, number of PDA points/hours of participation, and the same instructor.

It is a responsibility of the Diplomate to report all PDA/CEU credits completed during the recertification cycle in their online portal by clicking “Report CE” link. All PDA/CEU credits must be reported no later than 6 weeks from the recertification application submission date.

Lapsed constituents must return to Active status within three (3) years of their certification expiration date. If NCCAOM certification is not renewed within three (3) years, it is terminated.

Fifteen (15) extra PDA points/hours are required per lapsed year. Lapsed PDA points have to be completed in the Core Competencies category (AOM-BIO, AOM-AC, AOM-CH, AOM-OM, SA, ET). Mandatory: Core Competency PDA points are awarded for active learning that is completed in a classroom or e-learning environment in specific areas. One PDA point is equal to one hour of instructor-led learning. Click here to find courses approved by the PDA program.

Diplomates are required to complete a CPR course plus a minimum of 30 PDA / CEU credits in Core Competency coursework in the following areas. All 60 points may be earned in the Core Competency section.

Optional: Professional Enhancement (PE) consists of coursework (CW) and activities (AT) that can be mixed to complete the PDA points required for NCCAOM recertification. Remaining PDAs from the Core Competency section may be applied to the PE-CW category.
